At STC, our projects stand as a testament to our commitment to excellence, craftsmanship, and innovative design. Across various terrains and countries, we've extended our expertise in timber craftsmanship and construction. Here’s a brief overview of some of our esteemed projects:

2M Construction (Botswana)

This contract was considered a logistical nightmare. It consisted of over a 1000 prefabricated roof trusses for school houses on sites that required a minimum of only 7 trusses to a maximum of 49. The sites were spread over 1200km, some of these sites located on bush tracks. The specification could not be changed to conventional trusses so we rented premises in Gaborone West where the treated timber was shipped in from the Moumalanga Province of South Africa and the truss components were cut and color coded. Transporters delivered the truss components and sundries to the various sites throughout Botswana. Our fabrication teams then followed up with mobile presses to assemble and plate the trusses. The contract was successfully completed on time.

Ingwe Ranch and Overlander Base (Zimbabwe)

We were tasked with constructing the facilities for the Game Ranch and Overlander Base. The structural treated timber was brought in from the Eastern Border Highlands of Zimbabwe, where after our equipment was set up on site for us to machine the timber
moldinas and components. The following construction was completed:
Game Ranch – Viewing decks, sun decks, bird viewing hides, braai pit, pool surrounds, elevated tent platforms and 200m of elevated walkways
Overlander Base – Dormitories, canteen cooking areas and ablution blocks, which included tables, benches and bunk beds.

Baybridge Canal (Hartbeespoort Dam)

This contract required 1200m2 of Rhodesian Teak Decking for upper and lower decks of 32 units. The deck for each unit varied in shape, size and features. The features included terraced decking, pool and jacuzzi surrounds, steps, balustrades, filter covers, planters, benches, shower screens, jetties, cladding and upper balcony decks.

TEKCIV Consulting Engineers Greenbriar Flats (Johannesburg)

This is a 4-story block of flats with steel roof trusses supporting corrugated iron sheeting roof cover and suspended ceilings. The trustees required solar panels to be installed on to the existing roof sheeting and the engineers calculated that the trusses would not be able to support the additional weight of the solar panels. We were tasked with constructing a fully braced timber grid with a 5.0 meter width and total length of 56.0 meters covering the full length of the building, supported on pillars attached to the individual units internal walls. The suspended ceilings were reattached to the new grid using steel droppers then disconnected from the trusses.
